Preserve the Natural Charm of Teak

Kava Outdoor Furniture blends timeless design with unmatched durability, creating pieces that transform open-air spaces into elegant retreats. Crafted from premium materials and built to withstand the elements, every Kava creation reflects superior craftsmanship and style. Whether it’s a patio, garden, terrace, or poolside, Kava brings comfort, beauty, and sophistication to your outdoor living.

Teak wood naturally expands and contracts with changes in climate, which may result in small surface cracks. These are normal and do not compromise the strength or durability of the furniture.

To protect your pieces and slow down natural weathering, we recommend using our custom-fit outdoor covers designed to safeguard against the elements.

CARE AND MAINTAINANCE

Avoid leaving water sitting on the surface of furniture and cushions.

Use custom furniture covers when items are not in use.

Make sure both the furniture and cushions are clean and dry before covering them.

If possible, remove cushions before covering the frames for extended periods to prevent mold and mildew.

If cushions get wet, prop them on their sides with the zipper down and unzipped to ensure all water drains out.

Preserving the Charm of Aged & Weathered Teak Furniture

With its tightly packed grain and natural oils, teak resists decay, fungus, termites, and pests, making it a top choice for outdoor furniture.

The Weathered Teak finish is crafted through careful wire-brushing and layered paintwork, giving teak a rustic, lived-in beauty. In contrast, the Aged Teak finish enhances subtle texture with light brushing and finishes it with pigment and sealant, capturing the graceful patina of naturally aged wood.

Climate shifts can cause teak to expand and contract, leading to minor surface cracks, but the structural integrity of the frame remains unaffected.

Teak and painted finishes may develop hairline cracks when moisture triggers the wood’s natural movement.

Outdoor exposure will eventually cause the Weathered Teak and Aged Teak finishes to soften and fade, allowing the underlying teak to emerge and develop its characteristic grey tone.

To keep your furniture looking its best, use protective outdoor covers designed to fit perfectly and reduce wear from the elements.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Don't let wet cushions stay on the frame for too long, as trapped moisture can damage the finish.

Protecting and Maintaining Outdoor Upholstery & Cushion Inserts

Perennials®, Sunbrella®, Agora, and Performance Textured Weave fabrics are made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic, ensuring superior resistance to water, stains, mildew, and fading. These durable, low-maintenance fabrics are perfect for outdoor settings.

Pilling may occur on Perennials® fabrics over time, but this is a natural trait, not a defect. A quick pass with a fabric shaver will restore a clean, smooth surface without harming the fabric.

Our outdoor upholstery fabrics are mildew-resistant, but proper care—such as removing damp cushions and routine cleaning—is essential to avoid mold and mildew growth.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Regularly use a dry, soft-bristle brush to remove dirt and dust before it becomes embedded.

For everyday stains, use a mild cleaner with warm water or a gentle fabric cleaner with a soft-bristle brush.

Once dry, apply a fabric protector to repel dirt and moisture. Stubborn residue may need professional cleaning.
